This site is created as an integrated project by eighth grade students at the Charles F. Patton Middle School in Unionville, Pennsylvania. Students selected topics, researched, interviewed, photographed and visited all of the sites and people mentioned within these pages.

It is a lengthy project, but as most students and residents will tell you, well worth the interaction between the students and the community.Teachers coordinated their study of geography, history and English to align with the historical people, places and moments which took place within the borders of the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District.

Middle level education is more than books, lectures, and projects. Students who participated in this study of their community have found a sense of pride as they contributed directly to preserving their own community history.

This is an ongoing project for our school. Students contribute in some way each year to the growth of the information. We have people from all over the country who access these pages for their personal use as well as educational use in their own classrooms. We work very hard to verify facts. If you are aware of any inaccuracy, please write to one of the teachers below and we will correct it.

Because technology changes frequently, we will update the style of delivery of the information as time permits. We are planning to add personal intervew podcasts in the future. We hope you will visit again to see the improvements.(2005-06)
