Dear Patton Families,

It has been another exciting week at Patton Middle School. You can feel the excitement in the air as the holiday break approaches. Please take a moment to complete this brief survey about your student Led Conference - My Story experience. We value your feedback!

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate 7th grader Sophie Rissmiller on her award-winning Holiday artwork. Sophie was the secondary school winner in the Unionville Chadds Ford School Districts Holiday Card Design Contest. We will be officially recognizing Sophie at Patton Middle School during the January School Board Meeting.

It was great to see so many of you at our Orchestra concert on Wednesday Evening. Our orchestra students did a fantastic job ushering in the holiday season with beautiful holiday songs. We're looking forward to the Middle School Chorus and Handbell concerts coming our way on Wednesday, December 19th starting at 7:00 PM in the High School Auditorium. I hope to see you there!

I also want to thank Mrs. Ferron and Mrs. Schultz for organizing our Annual Giving Tree campaign. I had the privilege of joining Mrs. Ferron, Mrs. Schultz and a busload of students to the New Garden Township Maintenance Building to organize boxes of food for the annual Kennett Square Community Services Holiday Basket program. It was a fantastic experience, and I am grateful that we had so many students willing to help.

Please send in your clean, plastic grocery bags. We will be using them during our Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event on Monday, January 21 to make long plastic strips, (plarn) that are woven together into large mats that will be distributed to homeless individuals in Philadelphia. There will be a collection box in the main office.
On behalf of the entire middle school staff, I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a holiday filled with peace and joy. Enjoy spring break!

GO HAWKS!

PTO News

The March 'talent show' is approaching. Here's a quick update. Ashley Bundis and Rob Penn volunteered to plan the event, which they've dubbed "Patton's Got Talent!" Some communications will be sent soon to rally participation from kids, parents and teachers. They'd be happy to discuss the plan in a future PTO meeting. Ideas and participation welcome! Visit the PTO website for more info.

The Unionville Community Bike Drive Committee would like to thank everyone who donated bicycles, time, energy and support to this year's collection and repair efforts. Through your efforts the drive was able to provide 135 bicycles to those in need. Special thanks to Garrison's Cyclery, Trek Wilmington, Two Men and a Truck, the Cleaver and Vosburgh families as well as all of the volunteers who braved the cold and rainy weather to get the job done.
