It was a beautiful day for the Chester County Middle School Championships at Henderson High School on Wednesday. Patton student-athletes stepped up and set new school and personal records all over the track.

  • Courtney Carlson started the afternoon off by smashing the 100 meter hurdles school record en route to victory. Logan Daniels won in the 100.

  • Emily Chapman finished 2nd in the 400 and 4th in the 200, both in school record times. She also teamed up with Carlson, Grace Mullins, and Madeline Bovard to take 3rd in the 4x100 meter relay.

  • Speaking of relays, the future superstar squad of Dominic Gonzalez, Jude Henry, Isaac Sabado, and Henry Bondi have been talking a big game all year. They backed it up by winning the 4x400 meter relay by 13 seconds!

  • Some outstanding performances from eighth graders, Carter Buterbaugh, Robbie Elsen, Jax Pinkston, and Ethan Hoffman. Buterbaugh and Elsen finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the 1600 meters, while Jax Pinkston finished as the runner-up in the 400 in a blazing new school record. Hoffman hung tough on a fast final lap to place 5th in the 800.

In the field:

  • Christian Romero finished 2nd in the Discus and 4th in the shot put. He was also one of the individual champions at this year's inaugural Patton Relays.

  • Ali Hall placed 4th in the Girls High Jump, while Timmy Brown placed fifth in the Boys High Jump.

Records are great, but sportsmanship and teamwork are what matter the most. During the warm-up portion of the meet, Shawn Fan injured his leg and could not compete in the 4x100 meter relay. Ethan Ruslim subbed in at the last minute, and when all was said and done, he unselfishly gave Shawn his medal after the race #PattonProud
