On Saturday, our Middle School Color Guard competed in the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Network Championship competition at Lehigh University—and they placed 3rd out of 7 schools with a score of 88.080, earning the bronze medal!
The other two middle schools with medals had scores of 88.920 and 88.800 so it was extremely close! This is an incredible accomplishment, especially for a brand-new team, and we could not be more proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to growth this season.
Color Guard is a performance-based activity that combines dance, equipment, and performance. This year, our team performed a choreographed routine to music, using flags, rifles, and even mirrors. It is a creative and athletic art that requires precision, teamwork, and lots of practice! The show is titled, "Who You Are," and it is about the challenges of self-discovery during adolescence. Their message of self-acceptance and resilience is powerful. Here are some photos and a video of their championship performance!
Our five members showed tremendous heart and perseverance throughout the season, and it was truly inspiring to see them shine at Championships. Please join us in congratulating them on this outstanding achievement!
Members include: Vivienne DiMario (captain), Grace Hurst, Bella Biggs, Rachel Majarian, and Kate Velickovski. The team is led by Patton teacher, Ms. Calista Balbierer. Congrats!
