In celebration of Youth Art Month, UCFSD is participating in the annual Student Art on the Square event in Kennett. The show opens, Friday March 29 and will feature K-12 schools from 6 districts. Food will be provided by Kennett Restaurants and music by our own Patton students! T-shirts will be on sale featuring a design from Patton 7th grader Alena Zhang!

We're joining together to raise funds and awareness to support Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy's fight to end Duchenne, a progressive, fatal muscle disorder for which there is no cure. Art After School for March-April begins on March 19th. There are 6 classes this session and will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays on March 19, 20, 26, 27 and April 2 and 3. Get in the Spring Spirit by painting Chinese lanterns and Japanese fish kites. Meet in Art room 104 on Tuesday and Wednesday after school until 4:15. Pick up is at the route 82 entrance at 4:15 or kids can wait in the library until 5:00. The fee is $75.00 for 6 classes. Please make checks payable to Ann Ferron. It's the 6th Grade Spring Fling!! Next Friday, March 22 from 2:45-4:30 pm. Music and dancing with DJ Wes! There will be pizza, soft pretzels, drinks, basketball, dodgeball and gaga. Tickets are $5 and will be sold during lunches next week and proceeds will benefit the FAME fire company in honor of the memory of former Patton student Eric Duerr.
This past Friday, the following students represented Patton Middle School in the PMEA District 12 Chorus Fest held at Valley Forge Middle School. It was a full day of singing and meeting new friends ending with an evening concert. These students were also in the Beauty and the Beast musical and could not stay for the concert except for one ... thanks to Ella Troiano for representing Patton beautifully!
On Saturday the 6th grade MathCounts team had a great day at the 6th grade Chester County Competition. Andy Ye finished in 1st place out of over 150 students. Shivam Maheshwari finished in 3rd place. Rohan Gandhi finished in 5th place. The team of Andy Ye, Shivam Maheshwari, Rohan Gandhi, and Jeremy Hsu came away with a 1st place finish. Congratulations to them as well as all of our 6th grade competitors!
Friday was 7th grade Museum Day where students in Non-Fiction Writing classes displayed their Bloom's Taxonomy projects. What a wonderful day for students to exhibit their research and presentation skills! A big thank-you to teachers, Laurie Palic, Julie Lear, Lauren Owsley and Sarah Friedman for all their work in making this day possible!

A new session starts this Tuesday, March 12th. Yoga for Girls meets Tuesdays immediately after school in Room 112 until 3:45. This fun class includes games, yoga flow sequences, relaxation and breathing techniques brought to you by Sunshine Yoga, LLC. Girls will learn age appropriate techniques to tackle teen stress. Doodle for Google is an annual contest open to students in grades K-12. Students are invited to create their own Google doodle for the chance to have it featured on Google.com! A big thank-you to Aura Herce-Duchini, a 10th grader at UHS, and her mom, Natalia Duchini, along with the robotics team - The Two-Eyed Illuminati for organizing and hosting an extraordinary STEM event last Saturday. Over 60 middle school students and approximately 20 5th grade students participated in the program. We also had numerous high school students who volunteered at the various stations and an army of adult volunteers who provided captivating and enriching hands-on problem-solving activities for our students. It was a great day!
The course selection window for 6th and 7th graders will be March 4-11. Counselors will be also be at lunches this week to assist students with course selection questions. Patton Hawks had a BLAST at UHS for the first-ever Patton Minithon!! Students had a great night of fun, food and dancing courtesy of the UHS Thon Club and the amazing DJ Wes Saunders!! All proceeds from the event go to THON and the Four Diamonds in support of children with pediatric cancer and their families. Thanks to the incomparable Faith Dilworth and all the great students in UHS Thon!! Thanks for a great night for Patton students!!
Current 8th grade girls looking to play soccer in the fall at the High School are invited to come out and practice with the team on the following dates: Friday February 15th from 7-9pm in the UHS gym, Friday February 22nd from 3-5pm in the Patton gym and Friday March 1st from 3-5pm in the UHS gym.
Middle School softball and baseball tryouts start this week. Baseball tryouts are Tuesday, 3/5 for 7th grade pitchers and catchers only and Wednesday, 3/6 for 8th grade pitchers and catchers only. 7th grade Softball tryouts are Thursday for pitchers & catchers only.
The YMCA of Greater Brandywine introduces Heart & Sole at Patton Middle School - new and just for middle school girls! Heart & Sole is a ten-week program that meets in small groups twice a week for girls in grades 6-8. Girls will have fun participating in challenging physical activities, engage in girl-led conversations and build a solid foundation for high school and life beyond. Groups will celebrate at the end of the season with a 5K. Register today!
Patton MiniTHON is coming, March 2 at UHS, courtesy of the UTHON club!! Turn in your registration form into the Patton Main Office no later than February 28. Tickets are $15 which includes food, dancing and a t-shirt. To participate in the optional dodgeball tournament, fill out the dodgeball sign up sheet and dodgeball costs an additional $10 per team of 10 players. All proceeds go to THON and the Four Diamonds Club in support of children with pediatric cancer and their families.

The $100 cash prize is provided by the Unionville High School National Art Honor Society. 8th grade students and parents: February 13 is the Course Selection Meeting for 9th Grade, 7PM at UHS! And February's Patton PTO meeting is February 15 at 9:30AM in the Patton auditorium. The meeting will feature a Q&A on 9th grade course selection for next year with UHS principal, Jimmy Conley and UHS guidance counselors!
All Patton students are encouraged to create a vaping awareness meme and submit it to the coalition by February 28, 2019. Student winners will receive a cash prize and their schools will receive poster copies of the winning meme. Click here for more info.
