Patton News & Announcements

We need your support for STEM Day! Patton Middle School and one of the FIRST FTC robotics teams in the school district (2 Eyed Illuminati) are planning a STEM day event to inspire middle schoolers to pursue a career in STEM and introduce them to FIRST robotics. On Saturday, February 23, the Patton will open the doors to middle school teens from the UCF and Kennett school districts for the “Engineers Invent Amazing” event. We are looking for 20 volunteers to help us with the event, from assisting with check-in or lunch, monitoring kids during the event, to helping with hands-on activities. High school students from UHS can volunteer to get volunteer hours as chaperones and helpers. This is a wonderful opportunity to let our children experience firsthand how fun science and engineering can be. Please let us know if you are interested in volunteering and if you can volunteer for a couple of hours or for the full day by using this SignUp Genius link!

Don’t forget to bring in plastic grocery bags for our MLK Day of Service Event.  We will be turning the bags into plarn, (click here video of Sherri Shultz making plarn) to be woven into sleeping mats for homeless individuals in Philadelphia. Our MLK Day of Service event will occur on Monday, January 21 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. This will be a relaxed, drop-in event where participants will be making plarn and weaving plastic mats. There is no need to register, and you can stay for as long or as little time as you wish.

Today was Giving Tree Delivery Day!! Patton students delivered our donated gifts to the New Garden Township Maintenance Building and then helped organize food items into the 600 boxes in preparation for The Kennett Area Community Services' Christmas Basket charity event on the weekend of December 15th. 600 needy families are invited to attend the event, choose gifts from the hundreds of donations and take home donated canned and fresh food. We are #PattonProud of our Patton students, families and staff for their generosity! See all the photos from the event right here.

The Patton Yearbook is only $25.00 until January 15. After that, the price goes up! You can place your order online easily by going to and following the instructions. You can also place your order by phone at 800-600-9107. The yearbook staff has been working hard putting together a great book - so don't delay, purchase your yearbook today! If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Spisak or Mrs. Nanis.

Patton’s 2018 Giving Tree1
November 27 - December 13
 “Tis the Season for Giving”

Please donate new, unused, unwrapped gifts for people of all ages. Show your Patton Pride this holiday season by adding your families donation to the Giving Trees in the library. If everyone at Patton donates one gift, we can donate over 1,000 items to those less fortunate in our immediate area.

Our  gifts will be delivered to the New Garden township building on Thursday December 13th.  Patton students will also help to fill 600 food boxes in preparation for the Christmas Basket charity event on the weekend of December 15th. 600 needy families are invited to attend the event, choose gifts from the hundreds of donations and take home donated canned and fresh food.

All contributions are donated to The Kennett Area Community Services that provides temporary assistance for families in the Kennett, Unionville-Chadds Ford, and Avon Grove school districts who need food, clothing, lodging, heat or rent.

Please attend our second "Dangers of Vaping" presentation this Tuesday, November 27 at 7 PM in the Patton Auditorium. Topics will include:

  • The wiring of the teen brain
  • Strategies to talk to your child about nicotine
  • How to utilize teachable moments
  • Spotting and responding to the signs of nicotine use

The CCIU offers student-centered STEM events for students in grades 3-12. From learning how to code and fly drones to creating 3D designs and brainstorming solutions to engineering problems, these unique, hands-on opportunities will challenge students to work collaboratively and creatively while developing STEM skills.

This year, your students have the opportunity to participate in the PA Media & Design Competition, Student Invention Convention and STEM Saturdays.

Exciting student events are happening at the CCIU all the time! To see a full list of this year's student events and programs, click here.

The Patton Counseling Department was excited to host our annual Heritage Day on Friday. Heritage Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to embrace the different countries and cultures that are represented in our school community. This day-long program is presented to the 6th grade class by 7th and 8th grade students and adults who are willing to volunteer their time. Throughout the day, the 6th grade students rotated through an area of student-created displays, a showcase of cultural garments, music, and dance in our auditorium and My Story presentations where students heard personal stories of immigrating to the United States from another country. Finally, the students came together at the end of the day in the gym for a performance by Chosen Dance Company who  entertained and educated our students about the history of Hip Hop. A big thanks to our Counseling Department - Mrs. Battinieri, Ms. Saletta, Mrs. Malone and Mrs. Hoge - and everyone who made this day possible.
