The Unionville Community Bike Drive Committee would like to thank everyone who donated bicycles, time, energy and support to this year’s collection and repair efforts.  Through your efforts the drive was able to provide 135 bicycles to those in need.  Special thanks to Garrison’s Cyclery, Trek Wilmington, Two Men and a Truck, the Cleaver and Vosburgh families as well as all of the volunteers who braved the cold and rainy weather to get the job done.

The March ‘talent show’ is approaching.  Here’s a quick update:

Ashley Bundis and Rob Penn volunteered to plan the event, which they’ve dubbed “Patton’s Got Talent!” Ashley & Rob have had great conversations with a few PTO members, teachers and school administrators.  Some communications will be sent soon to rally participation from kids, parents and teachers. They’d be happy to discuss the plan in a future PTO meeting.  Ideas and participation welcome!

Separately but related, Ashley & Rob have been inspired to start an ‘arts organization’ to serve Patton students – a complement to academic demands and sports calendars.  It’s just in the ideation phase, but they’ve had positive feedback thus far and would love to share the concept in a future PTO session.

Our Best Buddies program here at Patton is asking for some PTO assistance. Best Buddies is an opportunity for students to make new friends and create an inclusive school environment among students with and without disabilities. 
 
They are looking to have a special "Best Buddies Lunch" once a month and need some setup for the lunch. No funding or food is required, just some people to help them out with setup and cleanup since the teachers are teaching prior to the lunch period.

We are in need of people to help the spirit wear team at various events during the year. It is not a big commitment & the more people we have to help the less time one has to spend at each event. At each event we would need help with setting up, packing up & selling at approximately 2-3 hour increments. If you are interested please email Paula at ptopatton@gmail.com
 

Please join us at our First PTO meeting of the year on September 6 at 9:30am in the small cafeteria. Spiritwear will be on sale, we will have some small prizes, along with some breakfast treats and coffee. We want to welcome you all back to school and meet all the new families. We hope some of you can make it. Best of luck to your children this week as they start back to school!

The PTO is a great way to support the school, your kids, find out what is happening as well as an opportunity to meet other parents and school staff. We encourage you to get involved. Everything we do is based on volunteers. There are a variety of opportunities available that are flexible to work around your schedule. Whether you have 30 minutes or 2 hours. Your ideas, time and talents are truly needed. We are still looking for a few co-committee chairs for 

  • 7th Grade event
  • Book fair
  • Talent show
  • After School Language
  • Patton Musical Liaison
  • Fall Outdoor Movie
  • Raffle Baskets for the Patton Carnival in the Spring

We will help you with these positions and teach you what you have to do.

Thank you to our PTO community for your participation in our fundraisers as well as your invaluable volunteer time. Your help and generosity during 2017-18 was greatly appreciated.

Patton Middle School is looking to fill some NEW positions for our upcoming 2018-2019 school year. Our PTO is committed to continue existing & NEW traditions for our  community at Patton. However, in order to have a successful year we need YOU to help us. All positions can be Co-chair with a friend and our PTO community works closely with principal, parents & teachers to accomplished whats needed. Please consider becoming part of our Patton PTO, the fallowing positions need to be filled:

  2. Secretary
  3. Enrichment ( One time in the year)
  4. Member at Large
  5. 6th Grade Mixer ( One time a year)
  6. 8th Grade celebration ( One time a year)
  7. Box Tops
  8. Coat Drive
  9. Hospitality
  10. Talent show

The Patton Carnival on Friday, May 4th is the main source of funding for the PTO providing teacher grants, technology purchases, assemblies, and other educational enrichment for all middle school students. This is also a favorite event that students in the district look forward to all year long! Please help to make this a great event for our Patton family and the kids of the district by volunteering a few hours of your time. We are introducing many new games and we REALLY need your help! Please enter your name in the slot(s) you'd like to volunteer for using SignUp Genius (volunteering for more than one slot really helps). Please be sure to check in at the "Volunteer Check In Booth" upon arrival to get your volunteer information and ID. Thank you!

Join us for our next PTO meeting on Thursday, February 1st at 9:15 am in the small cafeteria - the topic will be 9th grade course selection! UHS Principal Mr. Conley and UHS Counselors will present 9th grade course selection. Come and find out about the high school schedule and get all your questions answered such as: “Does my child have to take a foreign language?” and “What math path should my child be taking?” and “Can my student pick electives their Freshman year?” and “How is GPA calculated and should my child take the SAT and the ACT more than once?” Course selection takes place at UHS on Feb 15th @ 7pm.

We are looking for a Patton parent to volunteer to coordinate the Talent Show this year! We have helpers lined up but need someone to coordinate the event- it will be a fun and memorable event for the students! The following dates are proposed: March 21-23 (Talent Show Preview Days), April 9-11 (Talent Show Practice) with the Talent Show taking place on April 13 @ 7pm. Interested in running this event? Do you love to read?  Come join the Patton Reading Olympics team!  We will be having an organizational meeting after school next TUESDAY,  NOVEMBER 14 in room 111.  If you can't make the meeting, just stop down to room 111 any time next week to sign up. The Chester County Reading Olympics competition was so huge last year that it will be split this year, to be held May 7 and May 9, 2018.  Come be part of the fun! This meeting will be finished by 3:15 PM.
