Patton PTO Committee Chair Descriptions
After School Foreign Language
Coordinate the after school Foreign Language program, including registration of interested students in September, creating class assignments for students, securing teachers for classes, working with PTO Treasurer to pay teachers for each semester.
Art Room Volunteers
If you choose to volunteer for this position please be aware that your help will be needed every other week for the entire year. The art department needs volunteers to help organize, clean and display student art work. This is a messy job, be prepared to get dirty!
Help organize Basketball Night, a family event held at the Middle School. Usually held in February at the end of the Basketball season.
Coordinate Community Bike Drive, collection of bikes, organize bike repair days. Coordinate distribution of bikes to district schools for donation to the community.
Coordinate the book Fair which is held in the Fall and ending on Visitation day.
Patton PTO Treasurer handles Booster Drive and Patton PTO VP handles Volunteers. Pick up completed booster/volunteer forms and booster checks from PTO box in Middle School office. Get the checks with the booster money and the form that says what they want to volunteer for -- Make the spreadsheet to record booster checks received. Make a spreadsheet with names of volunteers sorted by name of committee they are volunteering for. Submit lists to respective committee chairs as soon as completed (by early October) Return recorded booster checks to school in PTO Treasurer’s mailbox.
Check on Box Tops collection box periodically. Prepare to submit to Box Tops twice a year to BoxTops For Education. Send out reminders via eNews periodically to encourage participation.
Coat drive Chair needed. The Coat Drive is a district wide effort. The Coat Drive Committee Chair for Patton decorates a collection box and places in the lobby, clears collected coats periodically as box fills, and coordinates at middle school level for coat delivery to community for the holidays. The Coat Drive has a District Coordinator who oversees this program for our entire school district.
*Mrs. Ferron, Patton art teacher, has been running Empty Bowls and Giving Tree, Patton PTO volunteers work under her direction on these events.
Serve as Patton Middle School’s Rep for this district wide committee. Attend Curriculum Council meetings and provide updates to Patton PTO.
Coordinate the sale and distribution of the Directory to the middle school. This is a September /October job.

Attend monthly Unionville Chadds Ford Education Foundation’s meeting, and provide updates to Patton PTO membership
E-News (a.k.a.Hawk News)
The eNews chair receives emails of blurbs about current events from clubs and activities and submits them to District Communications weekly for publication. It is a behind the scenes job that requires setting up an eNews folder on your eNews email inbox and and each week submitting those blurbs to the district. It involves checking email regularly, so if you have questions about a blurb, you can contact the sender before submitting to the district.
Fall 6th Grade Mixer
Coordinate an after school social gathering for sixth graders in Sept. or October.
monthly Unionville Chadds Ford Education Foundation’s meeting, and provide updates to Patton PTO membership.
Coordinate the Giant Food Stores Card Fundraiser. Sign Parents up who have Giant cards. Coordinate Advisory competition for Giant Card subscriptions, and coordinate light breakfast celebration for the winning Advisory (i.e. donuts, juice, water, fruit).
Hospitality (Visitation Day in Oct.)
Coordinate refreshments for parents who attend Visitation Day.
Patton Pride Flower Gardens/Beautification
If you love to work with flowers here is your chance to get your hands dirty at Patton. One chair and 3 other volunteers are needed to maintain the flower beds on route 82 as well as the large bed facing the High School. A budget is provided by PTO to continue the efforts of Mrs. Ferron to create perennial/self seeding annual flower beds around our school. This volunteer opportunity requires weeding and planting for both the Fall and the Spring seasons. You can help make our outside space as beautiful as the inside of the building by spending a little time in the Patton Pride Gardens.
Raffle Baskets for Carnival
Create Themed Raffle Baskets using items collected by each Prime Time for the Patton Carnival, which is the Patton PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Coordinate raffle ticket sales during lunch periods the week of the Carnival, which is held the first Friday in May.
Coordinate School Photo days in the Fall and Spring.
Coordinate Spirit wear sales, both online sale and “live sale” at start of school year. Coordinate Spirit wear Sale at Back to School Night in Sept. and at Patton Picnic in August. Process order forms, payment and delivery of Spirit wear orders.
Coordinate the Patton Carnival, which is held the first Friday in May.
Staff Appreciation Brunch
Organize a brunch for Patton Teachers and Staff to welcome them back to school. Held in late August right before school starts.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Held in late May or early June. Organize an end of the year luncheon for Patton teachers and staff.
Held in the spring for one showing of our Patton talent.
